About Dr. Anwar...
Dr. Azam Anwar is a board certified cardiologist and interventional cardiologist. He has expertise in complex-cardiovascular interventions, ASD/PFO closure, PFO closure for migraines and stroke, alchohol septal ablation, percutaneous mitral valve repair, device development and cardiovascular education. He is dedicated to improve the lives of patients with heart disease through clinical practice, education, device and product development.
Dr. Anwar has helped develop a coronary stent, embolic-protection device, total-occlusion device and vascular-anastomosis device, cardias-surgery device and invented the Oz Palm Injector. He is the Founder and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center Dallas, the President of the Baylor Heart Place panel, and a founding member of the Baylor Heart and Vascular Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Cardiovascular Medical Devices Group and the Dermatologist Network.
Dr. Anwar attended medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. He served his internship and residency at the Baylor University Medical Center. He went on to complete his fellowship from the San Francisco Heart Institute in 1990.
