About the Doctor....
Dr. Phillip Swanson is Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He performs advanced laparoscopic surgery including weight loss procedures. Dr. Swanson became interested in weight loss surgery when it was show that major diseases such as diabetes and hypertension could be cured by weight loss surgery.
Dr. Swanson is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is involved with the Texas Medical Association, the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. Dr. Swanson is currently the Chief of Surgery at Las Colinas Medical Center in Irving and was previously the Chief of Surgery at Baylor Medical Center in Irving, Irving Coppell Surgical Hospital and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in California.
Dr. Swanson attended Bethel College in St. Paul where he graduated with the highest honors with a major in chemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Next, he completed his General Surgery residency at Texas Tech University School of Medicine and served as Chief Surgical resident in 1985.
