Dr. Edward Franko is a board certified surgeon and has been a pioneer in laparoscopic surgery. He performed the first laparoscopic colon surgery at Baylor Medical Center of Dallas. Dr. Franko has practiced surgery for over 20 years and sees patients at both his Dallas and Garland office. His practice offers medical and surgical treatment of colon and rectal problems.
Dr. Franko is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is also affiliated with the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Association and the Christian Medical and Dental Society. He has been named one of D Magazine’s Best Doctors in Dallas, and Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors. He has also been awarded the Lubrisol Scholarhip, Honorary Fenn Scholarship, Outstanding Chief Resident, American Chemical Society Award for Outstanding work in Analytical Chemistry. Dr. Franko has been published in the American Journal of Surgery, Vascular Surgery V. 37, and the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Franko received his undergraduate degree from Cleveland State University and attended Medical School at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. Dr. Franko also received specialty training in General Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York, NY. He also received training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
