Dr. Douglas Won is board certified by The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Won, Director and Co-Founder of the Minimally Invasive Spine Institute, provides the most comprehensive methods of minimally invasive and endoscopic (camera-assited) laser spine surgeries to treat cervical, thoracic and lumbar disorders. He uses cutting-edge techniques to avoid traditional, open back and neck fusion surgeries. Dr. Won also developed new minimally invasive spine surgery techniques as well as state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgical devices to treat spinal disorders. He was the first surgeon in Texas to perform endoscopic laser spine surgery with a 3mm incision performed without general anesthesia. The patient was able to walk out of the surgery center within a few hours.
Dr. Won is a member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, North American Spine Society, and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is active in research and development of innovative spine care. He has been published in numerous scientific journals and textbooks, and has lectured internationally on all aspects of spinal disorders. In 2009 and 2010 he was chosen as one of “America’s Top Orthopedist/Spine Surgeons” by the Research Consumers’ Council of America.
Dr. Won received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and went on to attend medical school at the University of Texas Medical ZBranch at Galeston. He served his internship and residency at the Washingotn University SOB/Barnes Jewish Hospital and completed his fellowship at Willaim Beaumont Hospital.
